F3AC Race 11 start
The Formula-3 Asian Championship Race took place on 7 and 8 September for the 2019 race. It was an exciting race that produced some amazing results. Many drivers earned valuable points giving some of them an advantage in their titles.
This race was round four of the Shanghai International Circuit in China. There were valuable memories made and many statistics set throughout the race. Some of the highlights of the race as well as various results and statistics are as follows.
The race is always a fantastic event. There is nothing like revving engines and burning rubber to really get your adrenaline going. The weather was delightful for the race and there was a great turnout of fans and media.
Brief history of the F3 Asian Championship
This championship is comprised of multiple races that are held across various locations in Asia. Round four completed recently with 10 teams from across the globe. This round was held at the Shanghai International Circuit. The race wraps up later this month and that round will also take place at the Shanghai International Circuit.
This is only the second year for the FIA Formula 3 racing series to take place. The first season (2018) held 15 total races through five total rounds. The design of the cars in this race are Tatuus design. These cars have multiple enhanced safety features, one of which is better side impact protection.
Top Speed organises and promotes the championship this year and they did a spectacular job with the race and the general setup. The race has already grown and evolved from the first year and we hope to continue to see it grow and accelerate to a premium race throughout Asia and other parts of the globe.
2019 F3 Asian Championship
These racers bring their A-games, with all of the best parts – including tires and accessories. The top 10 drivers in the race receive points with first receiving 25 points and 10th place receiving one point. Rounds one to three were held at other locations beginning in April.
Circuits used for the Championship in the first three rounds include Sepang International Circuit, Chang International Circuit and Suzuka Circuit. We will share some of the statistics from these circuits shortly. This race has become so popular so quickly because it provides a new elemental option for young drivers with a lot of talent to share.
The race revolves around a single-seat driver and the vehicles sport a single-engine type design. This championship is a great way for young drivers to build on their driving careers, giving them the chance to continue to advance towards Formula 1 if they would like.
The race is set up in periodic intervals and the races are drawn based on the results of the qualifiers. Drivers can pre-test the event and a 30-minute practice session is allowed as well the day before races commence.
Here is the breakdown of the races: Qualifying 1 is 15 minutes and selects the grid for Race 1, Qualifying 2 is also 15 minutes and selects the grid for Race 3. Race 1 is 25 minutes and the fastest laps select the grid for Race 2. Race 2 is also 25 minutes. Race 3 takes place on Sunday, it is a 25-minute race as well and winds up the rounds.
The race is intended to be exciting and enjoyable while also allowing drivers to display performance skills through safe and cost-controlled means. The promoters make a genuine effort to provide ultimate service and make this race a desirable event for both drivers and onlookers.
Specs, statistics and results
Final results will be available after round five has been completed, but there are many statistics and results that can be shared thus far.
Hitech Grand Prix has been the winning team in every race and round to this point. Winning drivers of the races include Ukyo Sasahara from Japan (eight races) and Jack Doohan from the UK (four races). Additionally, the fastest lap has been taken by Sasahara on seven races, Doohan on four races and Brendon Leitch from New Zealand on one race.
At this point, Ukyo Sasahara of Japan leads with 256 points. He pulled a 38-point advantage finishing round four after winning. He continues to gain the advantage, strengthening his lead and showing the skills he brings to the championship.
Jack Doohan and Daniel Cao (China) are next in line with points with a total of 218 and 131 respectively. Brendon Leitch follows closely with 121 points. These four drivers hold a definitive advantage in total points compared to the 22 still registered drivers in the championship.
10 teams are represented in the race from multiple areas. Teams represent the UK, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Ireland, Mexico, and India. Some of these countries brought more than one team to the table. Hitech Grand Prix, Absolute Racing, and BlackArts Racing lead the ranks for the teams with 376, 179, and 116 points respectively.
Conclusion
The Formula 3 Asian Championship is backed by multiple partners. Top Speed is the primary organiser of the race; however, Giti, Dixcel, FUCHS and Eibach also partner with the championship. Without the partners, the race simply couldn’t come to fruition.
This championship is in a ground-breaking phase with this being only the second year of the race. From the beginning, it has been a well-noted event that has been extremely successful. We look forward to continuing to see how this race continues to improve and evolve.
The results have shown excellent driving with some critically superior drivers who have had excellent results in their races. Many drivers have earned valuable points and had the opportunity to show off their skills to the world.
In future years, we hope to see continued talent brought onto the scene as well as see the current talent continue to build their careers and potentially advance to Formula 1 drivers. We’re excited to see how the Formula 3 Asian Championship continues to advance.
