Ferguson returns to NZ

Sensational Kiwi fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was ruled out of the T20 series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand due to a fractured thumb. Ferguson sustained the injury at training four days back while fielding.

According to doctors he sustained a small fracture to the middle joint.

He had a grand World Cup last month taking 21 wickets for the New Zealanders. He will be out for nearly six weeks which will give him time to recover before the England series back in New Zealand.

A replacement is unlikely to be flown in as only two more T20Is (today and 6 September) remain in the series. (SJ)
