Jean Todt, the President of Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and Special Envoy to UN on Road Safety expressed that he was deeply shocked and saddened by the terrible events that occurred in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
He states that he can only express his personal and the FIA Member Clubs sorrow in this very difficult time. He continues, when he first heard the bombing, he immediately thought of the Parisian Terrorist Attack four years ago as well as the pain and uncertainty it caused to his country.
He also says that the loss of many innocent lives must be condemned and we all civilised people must defend our values of peace and freedom. He assures the FIA family worldwide stands by the people of Sri Lanka in this hour of mourning.
The Automobile Association of Ceylon affiliated to the FIA family has received similar messages of condolence from: Mike Noon, President of the FIA Region II, New Zealand, Mohamed Ben Sulayem, President ATCUAE Dubai, UAE, Takayoshi Yashiro, President and Shingo Hino, Director International Affairs, Japan Automobile Federation (JAF), Meghraj Poudyal, Vice President of NASA Nepal and Allison Wallace, Coordinator FIA Region II AAA Australia.
