Last season’s Major Limited-Over finalists – NCC and Ragama CC – will not figure in the opening day’s matches when the 2021-22 domestic cricket season commences today with 11 matches being played out.
Six of the matches will be played in the metropolis and the remaining five in the outstations.
The 26 clubs have been grouped into two with the top two clubs of each group going through to play in the semi-finals and the final.
SSC are playing their match against Police SC at the NCC grounds as their venue is being used to host the 142nd Royal-Thomian cricket encounter from 28-30 October.
Group A: NCC, Army SC, Moors SC, Navy SC, Kurunegala YCC, CCC, Negombo CC, Nugegoda S&WC, BRC, Kandy Customs SC, Kalutara TC, Lankan CC and Air Force SC.
Group B: Ragama CC, Badureliya CC, Tamil Union, SSC, Bloomfield, Colts, Saracens SC, Chilaw Marians CC, Galle CC, Panadura SC, Police SC, Sebastianites, Ace Capital CC.
Today’s fixtures: Army SC v Air Force SC at Dombagoda; Badureliya CC v Ace Capital CC at Maggona; Moors SC v Lankan CC at Moors; Tamil Union v Sebastianites at P. Sara Oval; Navy SC v Kalutara TC at Welisara; SSC v Police SC at NCC; Kurunegala YCC v Kandy Customs SC at Welagedara Stadium; Bloomfield v Panadura SC at Bloomfield; CCC v BRC at CCC; Colts v Galle CC at Colts; and Saracens SC v Chilaw Marians CC at Katunayake.
