Dilrukshi Perera stamped her class at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia two weeks ago. Though none of the swimmers from Sri Lanka were able to bring any medals, the overall performance of the entire team is the best in the 80 year old history.
Tall and lanky Dilrukshi beat her personal best in the 50 metre free style when she clocked 27.75 seconds at this event in Gold Coast. Her previous best was 27.85 seconds. In the 50 metre butterfly event, she clocked 29.81 seconds beating her previous record of 30.31 seconds. On her way to achieve this, she smashed the Sri Lanka national record which stood at 30.09 seconds which was created by Hiruni Perera of Harischandra College, Negombo. (SJ)
