‘Play for a Cause’, an initiative led by the Royal-Thomian Match Organising Committee, Battle of the Blues, spearheaded by Sri Lanka’s premier telecommunication services provider Dialog Axiata Plc, annually aims to support and empower selected deserving schools.
Dialog Axiata, the official sponsor of Sri Lanka’s blue ribbon big match, the ‘Battle of the Blues’, contributes Rs. 1,000 for every run scored and Rs. 10,000 for every wicket. The 138th ‘Battle of the Blues’ which ended with Royal College holding on for an exciting draw, accumulated Rs. 1,036,000.
Santhively Maha Vidyalayam, Batticaloa, Sir John Kothalawala College, Kurunegala, Gamini National School, Bentota and Sri Naga National School, Naula were selected by the Royal-Thomian Match Organising Committee 2017, headed by Royal College, Colombo Principal B.A. Abeyratna and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia Warden Rev. Marc Billimoria as deserving recipients of the 2017 edition of ‘Play for a Cause.’
