The steering committee of the Warrior Trophy with title sponsor Dialog Axiata PLC recently distributed the surplus funds from the tournament’s sponsorship to the six clubs that played the tourney.
12 players who played in the Warrior Trophy 2021 and represented Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Dialog Asia Rugby 7s in Dubai, UAE, also received a cash award for their dedication and hard work towards the sport of Rugby in Sri Lanka. The Warrior Trophy Powered by Dialog organised by the steering committee comprising the Tri-Forces and the Police was held in October 2021.
Sri Lanka Airforce stunned Sri Lanka Police (24-0) in the Cup final at Police Park to be crowned as champs. Officials of Army SC, Navy SC, Air Force SC, CH&FC and Havelock SC who received the funds SLAF SC Chairman and Member Steering Committee Group Captain Subash Jayathileka, SL Army SC Assistant Manager Maj. Manoj Bandara and SL Police SC Manager Inspector Kumara Samarakoon received the cheque from Dialog Axiata PLC Senior General Manager – Brand and Media Harsha Samaranayake.
Havelock SC Manager Roshan Opatha, CH&FC SC Organising Committee Treasurer and Manager Udani Edirisinghe received the cheque from SDIG Ranmal Kodituwakku. SL Navy SC Manager and Secretary Lt. Commander Sasiri Wickramanayaka received the cheque from Member Steering Committee Group Captain Subash Jayathileka
