Deutsche Bank, Asiri Hospital enter finals of MCA ‘G’ division 25 Over league

Deutsche Bank AG and Asiri Hospitals had to fight tooth and nail to book their berths in the Final, in the 9th Stafford Motors – Honda Trophy/MCA ‘G’ division 25 Over league tournament 2019.

In the Semi Finals played during last weekend, Deutsche Bank beat A Baur & Co. by 18-runs; Asiri Hospitals beat Hayleys Group ‘B’ by 13 runs.

Deutsche Bank batting first, put up a formidable score of 191 for 8 in 25 overs riding on the 4th wicket stand of 70 runs in 45 balls, between Yohan Fernando (74 in 57 balls inclusive of 2 sixes and 8 fours) and Praveen Fernando (27).

Unbeaten Baur’s, after 7 wins on the trot tasted their first defeat due to the excellent bowling performance by Praveen Fernando (4.2-32-03), Jamith de Silva (02-06-02) and Pasan Jayasinghe (05-29-02).

The bowlers dominated the bottom half Semi Final; Asiri Hospitals, batting first was restricted to 120 for 9 in 25 overs by Hayleys bowlers, Mahesh Deepal (5.2-14-04) and S. Welagedera (04-17-03); Asiri Hospitals defended their moderate total via their varied bowling attack of Isuru Jayaratne (4.5-27-03), Sameepa Liyanage (05-16-03) and Koshan Jayawickrama ( 05-18-02); both teams were unbeaten up to the Semi Finals. 

The Final between Deutsche Bank AG and Asiri Hospitals will take place on Sunday, 25 August at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10 a.m.
