A delegation of 33 members including Manipay, Jaffna Pradesha Sabha Chairman A. Jepanesan visited Seenigama Aquatic Complex in Hikkaduwa on 16 March to experience and understand the concept of proposed Aquatic Sports Complex, to be built in Sellamuttu Play ground belonging to the Manipay Pradesha Sabha by a donor from abroad. The delegation has explored and witnessed the success factors of the similar donor-supported Aquatic Complex managed by the Foundation of Goodness, a non-profit NGO in Seenigama, Hikkaduwa.
The Policy Development Office of the Prime Minister’s Office, on request of a donor from abroad, has instructed Government Agent, Jaffna to find suitable locations for the Aquatic Complex in Jaffna. Government Agent, Jaffna has recommended certain lands for this purpose. After inspection, the Land the Sellamuttu Playground belonging to the Manipay Pradesha Sabha has been selected as suitable. After the negotiation with Manipay Pradesha Sabha, it was proposed by the donor that the Aquatic Complex should be managed by Foundation of Goodness, a non-profit NGO.
After this visit, the inspired delegation has informed that they will come up with the necessary resolutions to proceed with the donor’s dream of an Aquatic Complex in Jaffna. “This visit also bridged the gap between North and South of Sri Lanka in the process of reconciliation, after the decades-long conflict,” they added.
