The Sri Lanka Men’s outfit is under pressure to perform well in the final of the Asian Sevens 2019 series, the third and last leg which will take place on 28 and 29 September at the Racecourse rugby ground in Colombo. Meanwhile the Women’s Team is in a danger of a demotion, sitting down at the last (8th) position.
Sri Lankan Men’s finished fifth place in the first leg in South Korea, but was a yard faster in the second leg in China where they secured number four in the eight team event. Hong Kong now leads with 22 points and Sri Lanka is placed on equal terms with South Korea at number five.
Women’s outfit in danger of a demotion to Division 1
Meanwhile the Women’s outfit is going through a lean patch, losing all their games in the second leg and landing on the last position, while ending number six in the first leg in South Korea. If Sri Lanka fails to show their good rugby they will be in a danger of being relegated to Division 1, as the bottom placed (8th) team will be demoted. Japan, who is in the lead after the first two legs in the Women’s segment, is also tipped to pull it off in the third leg as well.
