Commercial Credit, Fair First Insurance vie for Mercantile Basketball crown today

National player Thimothy Nithushan (16 points) played a tireless game to hand over a fine 56/45 win to the defending champions, Commercial Credit & Finance, over Sampath Bank in the Mens “A” division Semi Final of the 27th MSBA League Basketball Tournament 2017 last Tuesday. 

Commercial Credit led, 30/24 at half time  Nithushan was well supported by Clinton Stallone (15) & Sanjeewa  Kulamina (10);  Chamath Dhanawansa (12) stood out for the bankers. 

In the other Semi Final, debutants Fair First Insurance beat last year’s Runners-Up DFCC Bank 40/34; DFCC held a commanding lead of 21/10 at half time. 

Shehan Udayanga (15) and Isuru Perera (11) kept their reserves to go past the bankers in the second period of play. Terrence Neydoff (12) played his heart out for DFCC. 

The Final between Commercial Credit & Fair First Insurance will take place on Wednesday, 30 August at 7:30 p.m.
