Top-class golfers Sanjeewa Ariyarathne and Anusha Senadheera are the defending champions in the Men's and Women's segment, respectively, at the ninth edition of the Sri Lankan Air Force conducted annual Commander’s Cup 2022. Unfortunately, Sanjeewa is in Spain and will miss out on this year's event.
This mega event was organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force Golf Committee at the beautiful and probably the best course in South Asia, to be held at the picturesque Eagles Golf Link located in China Bay, Trincomalee today. Tee-off will be at 7 a.m.
Yesterday, the players had a practice session. Over 110 golfers, both local and overseas, are participating in this annual event.
Along with the main event (Commanders Cup) there are a few more special events on offer, including the special Eagles Challenge Trophy for the Best Golfer from the Tri Forces and awards for the Longest Drives and Closest to the PIN and for the Minimum Putt in four selected holes.
Very strict health guidelines will be followed by the organisers. The event will be once again headed by Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, the former Rajans sportsman and one of the best golfers.
