Colombo Kings cricketer Ravinderpal Singh
Canadian cricketer Ravinderpal Singh, who is expected to appear for the Colombo Kings in the upcoming My11Circle Lanka Premier League (LPL), has tested positive for COVID-19.
Singh arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai yesterday.
“He initially tested positive, then they took a test before he left Dubai and it was negative. Then after arrival, he has tested positive again,” said Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva.
“Singh has been isolated, because we are going to commence the tournament shortly with all the other players testing negative. He doesn’t have any symptoms or anything like that and he didn’t have any contacts with the rest of the players, because immediately when we got the news we isolated him,” he said.
“We have set up an operations room in Hambantota in a different location where immediately anyone who is tested positive is isolated, and we have hired doctors who could quickly attend to the patient,” de Silva added.
The 15-day LPL is due to commence on 26 November and run till 16 December at Hambantota.
