Former St. Peter’s, CH & FC, national sevens, 15s player, national selector, Women’s outfit Coach, Sri Lanka Rugby Executive Director and Sri Lanka Cricket Media Manager Chandrishan Perera passed away in Negombo last evening.
Chandrishan after schooling in his early days at St. Peter’s spent many years in England played cricket for the Combined Universities in England. After returning to Sri Lanka he represented club rugby for CH & FC. Being one of the dashing and lightning fast winger he represented both his club and the national outfit.
He was a specialist in the shorter version of the game being part of the 1982 Bowl winning outfit in Hong Kong at the Sevens under Hisham Abdeen. He was a physical fitness specialist as well for the national team in late 90s. He took much interest and took the Women’s outfit Head Coaching role winning the Plate trophy at the Asian sevens rugby.
