Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) has decided to conduct an inquiry on 9 January into the brawl which took place after the club match between the Navy Sports Club and CH&FC in Welisara two weeks ago.
Navy won the game and soon after the match ended a brawl broke out between players from both teams.
Navy forward Lahiru Visvajith is alleged to have been threatened by a CH player.
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara had requested SLR to carry out the inquiry while he stated that representatives from the Sports Ministry would also be present at the inquiry.
Speaking to the media the Minister said: “I will take firm action against the guilty party. This isn’t the kind of sportsmanship expected in sports. Things that happen during a match should not go beyond it. It’s not good for the sport.” (SJ)
