The British School Under-19 cricket team with the winners’ trophy
The British School in Colombo (BSC) clinched the inaugural four-school Under-19 T10 Cricket Tournament when they edged out Colombo International School (CIS) by four wickets in the competition’s finals worked off at Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita recently.
CIS, electing to bat first, got off to a flying start thanks to a 25-ball 45 from Raveen Nanayakkara.
However, BSC managed to pull things back through Kavinda Subasinghe (2 for 8) and Thishan Kahadawalaarachchi (2 for 9) as CIS were restricted to 67 for nine in their allotted 10 overs.BSC, in reply, got off to a solid start with Pradyun Saikia scoring 23 off 15 balls before they lost their way midway through the innings following three run outs.
BSC needed five runs from the last two deliveries and they held their nerve before registering a last-ball thriller with four wickets to spare.
CIS: 67/9 in 10 overs (Raveen Nanayakkara 45, Kavinda Subasinghe 2 for 8, Thishan Kahadawalaarachchi 2 for 9)
