Old Royalist displayed top quality golf and their results of very good preparations helped them to regain the Bradby Golf 2022 title which was worked off at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) a day before their Kandy leg of the Bradby Shield. This encounter is played for G C Wickremasinghe Trophy.
Forty golfers teed off in this annual event. Two pairs of Nishan Fernando and Asela Wawita plus Chandima Desinghe and Sampath Hemachandra won their encounters for Trinity while Tharanga Gunasekera and Ashan Welagedera squared off with Romesh Abeyrathne and Suresh Subramaniam. Rest of the matches were won by the Royalist.
This board event between the two top esteemed Institutions was by the initiative of former Trinity Rugby player (1985) and Rugby Lion, Bimal Fernando and Ravana Wijeratne. The initial two years (2016 and 2017) Trinity won while in the next two years (2018 and 2019) Royal took home the shield. Then in 2020 Trinity regained and held on till 2021. The series at present is Trinity (4) and Royal (3).
Trinity College, Principal, Father Araliya Jayasundera was the chief guest.
