Bhathiya Ekanayake no more

Bhathiya Ekanayake, the former Under-18 prop forward of Trinity College and a potential player of the Under-20 squad, passed away last Sunday at the Kandy General Hospital. 

He was rushed to hospital when he collapsed while taking part in the squad training session in Pallekelle. He was taken to a channelling centre in Pallekelle and later rushed to the General Hospital in Kandy. Bhathiya, who was treated at the Intensive Care Unit, passed away on 1 October with the cause of death cited as heatstroke. His funeral will take place at Mahiyawa Cemetery.
