Battle of the Maroons: Match evenly poised

The oldest big match in the central hills between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College took place for the 112nd time with the exchanges being even at the end of day 1 at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium yesterday. 

Rajans won the toss and invited the Randles Hill school to bat first. They lost regular wickets and none of their batsman’s went passed the half century mark. Dhanjaya (42), Skipper, Ganindu Kaushalya (33) and Wijyanarayana (40) were among the runs. 

The only highlight was the 3rd wicket partnership of 60 runs between Dhanjaya (420 and Ganandu (33). Rajans too fell into the same pit when they too lost regular wickets with only attacking innings by Bawanthaudangamuwa who stroked a quick fire 30. Kingswoodians used 8 bowlers in their 41 overs of bowling.   

Chief scores: Kingswood first innings 166 all out in 53 overs: Dunidu Dhamshika 20, Dhanjaya Maduranga 42, Ganindu Kaushalya 33, Dilan Wijayanarayana 40. Virajith Ehelapola 2 for 47, Yashitha Samaratne 3 for 49, Upendra Warunkulasuriya 2 for 35.
