Left-arm spinner Chameera Dissanayake produced his best figures in T20 cricket of 3 for 17, Dushan Hemantha his maiden T20 fifty (58 not out off 43 balls), and Lahiru Samarakoon came up with a fine all-round performance (57 off 31 balls with 5 sixes, 4 fours and 2 wickets for 29), to help BRC secure their third win and move to second spot behind Group A leaders CCC in the SLC Major T20 inter-club matches continued yesterday.
In fact, BRC posted the highest total of the tournament so far scoring 179-6 off their 20 overs against Badureliya CC, whom they beat by 21 runs.
Tamil Union made short work of Panadura SC’s moderate total of 115, after Sithara Gimhan (36) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (43) had wiped out 75 of those runs off 7.4 overs in an opening stand, to win comfortably by seven wickets.
Eranga Ratnayake completed his maiden T20 half-century to help Galle CC to 144-7 before rain prevented any further play in their match against Negombo CC, which ended in a no-result.
The Navy SC vs Sebastianites contest also ended the same way in a no-result, when rain put an end to proceedings with Navy having faced only 2 overs in pursuit of Sebastianites score of 131. (ST)
