Sanjeewani Wijethilake will lead an experienced outfit for the Asia Sevens 2019 first leg in South Korea at the end of this month.
The Sri Lankan Women’s team ended as number five in the three leg event last year. The outfit will be led by Navy SC playmaker Sanjeewani Wijethilake with Thauja Weerakody and Dulani Palllikondage to support her with their experience in the Asian Rugby in the shorter version of the game. Sri Lanka will need to end in the top three (after all three legs) in order for a selection at the 2020 Hong Kong Sevens emerging team event.
Once again for his good work with the Women’s sevens rugby, former Police SC and Kandy SC player Sudath Sampath was appointed as the Head Coach of the touring team.
SAGT will once again sponsor the outfit.
