Starting with the big match tradition in 2016, Lyceum International Schools Director Nikitha Grero wanted Lyceum students to have the unforgettable experience of a big match.
Lyceum International Schools Chief Visionary Officer Nikitha Grero stated: “One of the most exciting times of the year has come around once again where Lyceum Nugegoda and Lyceum Panadura will be competing against each other in a friendly game of cricket at the fourth Annual Big Match. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone who made time to attend this event and show your support to our very talented cricketers.
“There is no doubt that cricket is Sri Lanka’s favourite game, and a great match always has a little bit of everything; from the excitement of scoring a six or the surprise of knocking out the wickets when least expected, cricket is undoubtedly an enthralling game like no other, which brings everyone together. It is no wonder that we celebrate our big match with a game of cricket every year to embrace the spirit of this wonderful game.
“I would like to thank Sameera Pathum, Malith Kumarasinghe as well as the rest of the team who continuously support the Big Match and organise it every year beyond our expectations. I am also extremely grateful to our highly experienced cricket coaches for guiding our students to practice hard and perform spectacularly well on the field and I wish both teams performing today all the very best of luck!”
There is no doubt that the excitement is building up for this year’s event. When looking back at last year’s big match, the champions Lyceum Nugegoda gave an excellent performance on the cricket pitch by scoring 197 all out for 22.1 overs, while Lyceum Panadura managed to score 196 for 42.3 overs.
