The top 32 Gents golfers booked their berth for the knockout stages of the Sri Lanka Golf conducted 132nd Amateur golf tournament which was worked off at the Royal Colombo Golf Course in Colombo. Meanwhile in the 116th Ladies event which is played concurrently for F B De Mel Cup too reached its knockout stages with 16 of them booking their berth.
Top class golfers, Amrith de Soysa, Kushal Johnpillai and Shanaka Perera too got in to the 32 in the Gents segment. Meanwhile there were some young talent too in the final knock out stages. Reshan Algama, the youngest to qualify and extremely talented golfer at 14 years will be playing Nirek Thejwani who is also one of the top Junior golfers. Nirek got his exposure in his recent golf tour to Scotland. Young K. Danushan is also another talented youngster who could shock a few leading golfers.
Meanwhile Kaya Daluwatte is not being part of this event due to she being in India at present. Taniya Balasuriya, Anouk Chitty and Anushya Weerakody are the other three top lady golfers in the final 16.
