Peterite schoolboy and young Sri Lankan swimming sensation Akalanka Peiris finished in tenth place in the Men’s 50-meter backstroke event among 26 top class swimmers, at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games 2018 in Argentina.

Earlier in the 100-meter backstroke, he finished 16th after exiting in the semifinals. He set a national record in the 50-meter backstroke with a national record beating his 26.52 seconds by clocking 26.33 in his heat.
