Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who is due to captain Galle Gladiators in the My11Circle Lanka Premier League (LPL), is reported to have missed his flight to Sri Lanka scheduled yesterday.
The former Pakistan legend tweeted: “Missed my flight to Colombo today morning. Nothing to worry, I’ll be reaching soon to take part in the LPL for Galle Gladiators. Look forward to joining my teammates.”
Afridi is likely to miss the first couple of games of the LPL, as he is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (Tuesday) and will have to undergo the mandatory quarantine procedure.
In his absence, rising Sri Lanka batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa, the vice-captain of the team, will lead the Galle Gladiators in their first game against Jaffna Stallions on 27 November.
