Joint Champ Access and MAS

Defending champions Access Group A had to settle for the joint championship with MAS Holdings (12/12) at the 49th Mercantile Rugby Sevens played at the CR & FC Ground at Longdon Place yesterday.
After the completion of full-time the game was tied at 12 apiece, and then went into extra time. Three kicks were offered for both teams but none of them on target by both units. MAS tries were scored by Thilina Wijesinghe and Gayan Weeraratne while Jason Dissanayake and Kevin Dixon scored for Access.
Kavindu Perera led the Access Group while his clubmate from Kandy, Nigel Ratwatte led the MAS outfit. Thilina Wijesinghe of MAS won the player of the final. Player of the tournament was former Kingswood and CR & FC play maker, Reza Rafaideen.
In total 24 teams participated at this annual event which will be used as a yardstick to select the National Rugby pool for the Asian Sevens which will be played in South Korea, China and Sri Lanka.
