Sri Lanka’s leading high-tech industrial glove manufacturer ATG Group of Companies recently offered a sponsorship of Rs. 300,000 to budding badminton sensation K. The month-long tour constitutes three tournaments: Perth International Badminton Tournament (4-8 September), South Australian International Badminton Tournament (12-15 September) and Sydney International Badminton Tournament (18-22 September).
Dulanjana was flanked as the ‘Most Outstanding Sportsman’ at the Ananda Collage Colours Night in 2016, the same year he won Silver at South Asian Games and captained the U19 national team. At 21, he is the most decorated badminton player in the country in his age group.
Receiving his sponsorship cheque at a simple ceremony held at the ATG Group Headquarters in the Katunayaka Export Processing Zone, Madhuka thanked ATG’s Managing Director Fazal Abdeen for the generous gesture and continued support to budding national sportsmen and women of Sri Lanka.
ATG Group of Companies Director General Upali Karunathilaka stated that the Company regards promoting and supporting local talent, especially in sports, as a top priority.
He added: “Empowering youth is very much a part of ATG Group’s corporate culture. As we have in the past too, we hope to assist many more deserving young sports men and women so they can bring esteem and glory to our country.”
The ATG Group sponsored junior badminton player Dumindu Abeywickrama during his tour of Canada to participate in the World Badminton Championships last year. The group is also the official jersey sponsor of Colombo Synergy Rugby Academy for 2018-2019.
