Access made a bold second half reply to beat Dialog ‘A’ 28-12 in a tense cup final which was worked off at the Racecourse grounds under lights yesterday.
At halftime Dialog led 12-7.
Dialog scored first through Niroshan Fernando to take an early 7-0 lead. Access replied soon after when Dhanushka Ranjan go past more than three defenders and ran more than 60 meters before passing it on to his team and club mate Jason Dissanayake to level the scores. Minutes before the halftime whistle Thilina Wijesinghe scored for Dialog.
After the turnaround it was Access all the way. They scored through Ranjan, Dixon and Richard for three unanswered tries to seal the deal.
The majority of these players who were in action are likely to have booked their spots for the Asian Games and Asian Sevens later next month. Access was represented by Tharinda Ratwatte, Ranjan, Jason, Sooriyabandara, Dixon, Muthuthanthri, Richard, Kavindu and Udangamuwa while Dialog saw Mithun, Niroshan, Anuradha, Abzal, Dinusha and Thilina representing their organisation.
