The 38th Royal-Thomian Regatta and the 42nd boat race will be held at the Colombo Rowing Club today, 22 October from 1.00 p.m.
Last year the Royalists won the overall regatta, however the Thomians won the prestigious boat race and the Crossed Oars Trophy for the third consecutive year.
The regatta is expected to be a very closely fought battle, although Royal College appear to have the more experienced crews. A massive crowd is expected to attend this event which will be simulcast on a giant screen with live commentaries and a live streaming video web cast while the races are in progress.
S. Thomas’ College is captained by 18-year-old Shelan de Livera and coached by veteran Ajith Goonewardena assisted by S. Kannangara.
Royal College is captained by the experienced 19-year-old Chirath Karunanayke and coached by Asiri Abhayaratne assisted by H. Hassan.
