29 teams vie for honours at Sri Lankasports.com Netball Challenge 2014

Twenty-nine teams representing prestigious institutions in Sri Lanka will vie for honours at the Sri Lankasports.com Netball Challenge 2014 which unfolds on 26 April at the Indoor Stadium at St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. Sri Lanka’s first sports website www.srilankasports.com will be organising this event while the technical assistance will receive from the Academy of Netball – Kotte. This event has the blessings of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka and also the Mercantile Netball Association. The event will be conducted in two divisions and also with a mixed category creating more opportunities for teams to perform at top level. Ten teams will be competing in Division one while 11 teams will battle in Division two. Eight teams will take part in the Mixed Division category. Hatton National Bank, Seylan Bank, Commercial Bank, Pan Asia Bank, HSBC, Nations Trust Bank, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., Asiri Hospitals Group, David Peiris Motor Company Ltd., and People’s Bank will compete in four groups in Division one. Hayles Group, Aitkan Spence, LB Finance, Brandix, Mass Unichella, Citizen’s Development Business Finance PLC, Expo Lanka Holdings Ltd, National Development Bank, Dialog Axiata, Commercial Credit & Finance PLC, Amaya Lake  will be seen in action in four groups in Division two. David Peiris Motor Company Ltd., Nations Trust Bank, Citizen’s Development Business Finance PLC, National Development Bank, Hayley’s Group, DFCC Bank, Dialog Axiata and LB Finance will battle in the mixed category event. Sri Lankasports.com has a successful history of organising special sporting events of this nature and all those events happened to be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankasports.com inaugurated an Inter Company Netball Tournament in 2006 and conducted for four consecutive years with the participation of top companied in the corporate sector. It was conducted in a specially designed format similar to seven a side rugby and also introduced the concept of ‘power play’ to the game of netball in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankasports.com organised another three major sporting events in Sri Lanka such as Inter Club Day-Night Beach Football Challenge, U17 Inter School Futsal Challenge and U15 Girls and Boys Inter School Handball Championship, all of which are considered being the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.
