Velvet, one of Sri Lanka’s leading beauty soap brands, yesterday launched ‘Liyaka Mahima’ – an initiative to shine a light on the countless women across Sri Lanka whose acts of love and tenderness often go unnoticed.
The initiative launched on International Women’s Day will run as an island-wide activation until 14 March, giving people across Sri Lanka the chance to share their appreciation and admiration for the women in their lives.
The Velvet team will visit 42 towns across Sri Lanka in the Western, Eastern and Southern Provinces and celebrate the softer sides of caring and inspirational women.
To participate in the initiative, call the hotline on 9900 or connect with the Velvet Facebook site and share your story about a special woman in your life, whose love, gentleness, thoughtfulness have made a lasting impact on you. A total of 100 stories will be randomly selected and rewarded with an array of cash prizes and gifts for the nominee and nominator.
These appreciations will be aired on national radio, seen on television and showcased on newspapers in the coming weeks.
Commenting on the initiative, Hemas Consumer Brands Senior Brand Manager Anushka Sabanayagam stated: “We are delighted to launch this initiative to celebrate Sri Lankan women from all walks of life, who continuously make a difference in the lives of their loved ones. Velvet soaps have won the hearts of local consumers across the island, and we hope that this initiative will give them the opportunity to strengthen their connection with the Velvet brand. This initiative will also enable us to give back to the women of our country and reward them for everything they do for their families, colleagues, neighbours and friends.”
In 2014, Velvet clinched three Gold awards awarded by the Leading Marketing Institute in Sri Lanka SLIM (Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing) for Brand of the Year, Product Brand of the Year and Local Brand of the Year.
