Signing of the Agreement between SLRC Chairman Ravi Jayawardhane and Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation Secretary V. President Maithripala Sirisena as the Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation declared the National Integration and Reconciliation Week from 8 to 14 January 2017. As an important initiative under this week, a special budget provision of Rs. 180 million was granted to the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation to facilitate and undertake programs aimed at improving peace and harmony among the different ethnicity in Sri Lanka in consultation with Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
Under this program it is proposed to establish a special reconciliation TV channel under the SLRC to hear the voices and undertake special reconciliation program through a dedicated special channel through the SLRC.
In this regard, a project concept document and an MOU was signed by the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation with SLRC at the SLRC premises on 8 January 2017 to coincide the initiative with the President’s commencement of the third year of the Office and the National Integration and Reconciliation Week declared by the President as the Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation.
