The upcoming weekend is all set to astound, amaze, and uplift the soul of creativity that lies in each and every one of us, as the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week heads to the historic city of Galle for the second Resort Wear Show. To be held at Bawa’s monument to the South, Jetwing Lighthouse, CFW is back this year bigger and better. Renowned as a groundbreaking display of Sri Lankan and international fashion design, the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week builds up on its reputation for further uplifting local industry standards continuing the Resortwear Show, which was a hit last year. With the intention of affording more opportunity for Sri Lankan designers and retailers in this high growth segment, CFW will continue their commitment towards beauty and creativity. CFW’s vision behind the Resort wear show is to create a hub in Sri Lanka for fashion collections focused on resort which includes swimwear, holiday wear, cruise wear and swimwear. “We see a unique opportunity for Sri Lanka to become that hub which attracts fashion designers and buyers who want to interact on resort fashion and create commerce. Sri Lanka, surrounded by resorts, from Maldives to Indonesia makes it the ideal hub for promoting resort wear. There is enough of a consumer base. We want to take the lead in this. At this point all I can say is we have started well and by God’s grace we will get there. And it’s a great tourism story,” says Ajai Singh, President of Colombo Fashion Week. HSBC CFW celebrates the historic town of Galle by taking the annual Resort show there. This year’s show will see 20 designers showcasing their creativity, 10 on each day with two internationally renowned designers. Day 1 will be at the iconic Galle Fort and the Day 2 will be at the timeless Jetwing Lighthouse. The fun doesn’t come to an end there however, as the official afterparty – BIRD CAGE – will take place on 5 October at Jetwing Lighthouse from 8 p.m. onwards! Tickets are priced at Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 2,500, and are available at the gate (limited, of course!), Arugam Bay Beachwear (32, Ward Place, Colombo 07), and Jetwing Lighthouse. For more information, please contact 0777637137 or 0770282859. Designed by the great Geoffrey Bawa and a prime example of his nature and space concepts, the sprawling resort features 63 rooms inclusive of three suites adorned in the different influences of Galle’s history. With two pools, a spa, and a variety of dining experiences, Jetwing Lighthouse is also a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Plans are currently underway to expand the current room inventory, with the addition of 22 more rooms. “Jetwing is proud to be a partner of the HSBC Colombo Fashion Week, with Jetwing Lighthouse being the official venue for this year’s Resortwear Show. Both the rich history of Galle and Bawa’s architectural genius complement this prestigious event, and we look forward to the display of talented designers from both Sri Lanka and overseas. We believe the CFW brand fits in very well with our reputation for creative and traditional excellence, and wish Ajai and his team all the best,” said Ishanth Gunewardene, Head of Sales and Marketing for Jetwing.
