Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim said CodeCraft is an extension to the successful annual Cyber Security Summits co-organised by the Daily FT during the past four years. These Summits have been effective in impressing upon the private sector the need to make cyber security a boardroom issue.
“CodeCraft is a key supply side initiative and aims to sharpen skills and overall competitiveness of the human capital of the ICT industry. CodeCraft will be support the country’s Digital Sri Lanka strategy, boost the knowledge economy and help efforts towards $5 billion ICT export goal,” he said.
The Daily FT Editor also said in most cases, security is an afterthought in coding and software development projects. “CodeCraft will be a catalyst to reinforce or inculcate security safeguards at the beginning of the pipe or project rather than at the end of the pipe,” he asserted.
From a national context CodeCraft will empower the ICT industry – perhaps the fastest growing sector in terms of job and wealth creation – and make this goal of Digital Sri Lanka and the economy more secure, the Daily FT Editor emphasised.
