Serendib Flour Mills recently partnered with Women in Management, to host a customised training session for small-scale women entrepreneurs. The day-long training session took place on International Women’s Day at Renuka Hotel and was attended by over 40 women, who run small businesses in various cottage industries.
The training program was titled ‘7 Star Women Empowering you for Tomorrow’ and provided the women with the basic tips and knowledge that they need to make their businesses thrive. The program addressed the challenges that many women in business face and provided practical tips on how to overcome them, whilst strengthening one’s overall operation. At the conclusion of the program each participant was awarded with a certificate of participation.
Commenting on the program, Nimanthi Muthugala of MPCS Warakapola who was a participant said: “We really appreciate the value that this program provided us with. We acquired a great deal of knowledge about how to improve our businesses and general management skills. I would like to thank the Serendib Flour Mills team and Women in Management for putting together such a comprehensive and useful training session. We would like to request the organising committee to take this program to the grassroots to empower women in the rural areas.”Several women in the program run small food stalls, eateries and bakeries and were able to learn more about how to streamline their operations, boost their sales, manage their expenses whilst effectively marketing their products. SFML has had a long-standing history of supporting women and communities through the provision of customised trainings and the company continuously strives to uplift women in business across the country.
