Workshop on logistics management

A workshop on logistics management organised by Optimum and conducted by Lt. Col. Chandana Weerakoon will be held on 6 May 2014 at Hotel Galadari from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contents covered include cross border logistics, key logistic theories and principles, supply chain models and discussion of models and applications. Weerakoon, RWP RSP psc, MSc (Mgt) CMLT, Lecturer and Consultant,  has tremendous experience in conducting logistics and transportation workshops, leadership and management programs to different segments in the country and abroad. He has much exposure regarding the field and had written books and many articles pertaining to the area in local and overseas journals and newspapers. He is also actively involved in facilitating both public and in-house training programs and lecturing at CINEC maritime campus for degree and Masters programs. Organisers said the world believes that logistics is a key for any firm. “We at ‘optimum’ believe that core competencies will be enhanced by the logistic knowledge and skills of the individuals at all levels which developed the organisation and expand the profit margin of the business,” a spokesman said. “One has to identify different logistics and supply chain models to fulfil the core needs and the vision of the respective organisations. In turn, logistics have to be interlinked with the core competencies of the organisation to get the real benefits,” the spokesman added. The workshop, price per participant for which is Rs. 6,000 and registration is by 2 May, will enable selection of suitable logistic applications to multiply profits, reduce lead time and develop good image of the organisation.
