A special delegation from Estonia made a curtsey visit at Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on 15 February 2013.
The 22 member delegation was led by Republic of Estonia Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Vaino Reinart.
The delegation later held initial discussions with the Minister of Port and Highways Rohitha Abeygunawardena and made a special inspection tour at the Colombo Port expansion project.
Making a pleasing note on the presentation of the latest Port City development project, sooner to be commenced, SLPA Chairman Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama said that Estonia would extend the fullest assistance in all possible ways for the on going developmental processes in the maritime sector in Sri Lanka.
The delegates also expressed confidence on developing more Cruise services between the destinations to promote the industry of tourism in Sri Lanka.
Amongst the distinguished guests present at the occasion were; Consul of the Republic of Estonia Dudley Thambinayagam, Ministry of Port and Highways Additional Secretary Anuradha Jayawickrama, SLPA Managing Director Capt. Nihal Keppetipola, SLPA Additional Managing Director Norman Weerarathne, SLPA Technical Director D.T.S. Gunasekara, SLPA Finance Director Shirani Wanniarachchi, Logistics Director D.W. Athapattu, CPEP Project Director Susantha Abeysiriwardana and Planning and Development Chief Engineer, Marketing and BD Chief Manager Upul Jayatissa, Ministry of External Affairs Economic Affairs Assistant Director Nilanthini Arudpragasam and Ministry of External Affairs Protocol Officer Hemantha Jayawarna.
