The Shippers’ Academy Colombo (SAC) will hold a workshop on Bills of Lading on 9 October 2012 from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Sri Lanka Foundation, Colombo 7.
A spokesman for SAC said the bill of lading plays an extremely important role in international trade. It is a key document in cargo liability, payment and title of goods that could be referred by global traders and related service providers when disputes arise. Clear understanding of the BL and what it means is an essential piece of knowledge to companies, banks and executives handling international cargo movements and documents.
In its continuous effort to train the domestic trading and service community, the Shippers’ Academy Colombo (SAC) has come up with its latest topic on BL in order to upgrade and refresh the knowledge of the trading community and their service providers.
The workshop is aimed at shipping lines, exporters, importers, merchandisers, freight forwarders, logistics companies, banks, insurance companies, lawyers & any personnel dealing with international trade
The topics that would cover: Different types of B/L in cargo transport,
Functions of the Bill of Lading, Handling of a lost Bill of Lading, Releasing cargo without the Bill of Lading, “Clause Bills of Lading” Why it plays such an important role, “Switch Bill of Lading” is it fraudulent? , Sri Lanka should soon go into the remote Bill of Lading and matters of concern FMC regulations.
