The Shippers’ Academy Colombo has introduced a certificate course on professional use of English language for international trade, logistics and transport for the first time in Sri Lanka. English being the global link language plays a vital role in international trade and transport. The course is designed to support the local companies and individuals to uplift quality and standards of a sector which is fast growing in Sri Lanka.
The objective of such initiative is to open doors for executives and managers and other candidates to move up the corporate ladder in international trade and logistics and to provide greater opportunities in the global market as demand is rising for English speaking executives and managers across the supply chain.
The course intends to help personal growth by providing the most essential English language skills and social etiquette required in dealing with multi-cultural environments. The program targets to increase the confidence level of the students in their day to day work and to be professional in using the global link language of English. The academy also looks forward to train students to increase reading habits and to uplift the industry standards and image whereby companies too will benefit.
The program is designed to provide English language and numerous soft skills required for international trade and logistics for students who are engaged in international trade and logistics business and who are entering the industry and are seeking English language proficiency.
The 62-hour course is designed in two steps, 42 hours of face to face lecturing sessions on English language, grammar skills, writing, speaking and conversing with global clients. This segment will also cover skills needed for business meetings and report writing.
Apart from this, 20 hours of workshop style sessions containing social etiquette, presentation skills, negotiation techniques, strategic problem solving in international trade, transport and logistics will be conducted.
