Qatar Airways Cargo will launch a new freighter route connecting Dallas/Fort Worth in US to its global cargo network starting on 19 January 2016.
Qatar Airways Cargo will utilise Boeing 777F freighter aircraft to fly the route two times per week from DFW to Liege, Belgium.
With the arrival of Qatar Airways Cargo, DFW will now have 18 air cargo carriers serving the Airport with flights to major cargo hubs worldwide.
“We are proud to welcome Qatar Airways Cargo, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing cargo carriers, to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport,” said DFW Airport, Executive Vice President of Global Strategy and Development John Ackerman, “This addition to our air cargo network is a reflection of the strength of the Dallas/Fort Worth market. Cargo and logistics is a strategic priority, and will continue to help our Airport grow and create economic benefits for the Dallas/Fort Worth region.”
“We are delighted to start 2016 with the addition of Dallas/Fort Worth to our network. This is just the beginning of our expansion plans for this year, which will see both our network and our fleet growing in size and strength,” said Ulrich Ogiermann, Qatar Airways chief officer cargo. “The US is a very important market for Qatar Airways Cargo and Dallas/Fort Worth is strategically well placed to give us further reach into the region.”
The new dedicated freighter service will more than double the cargo export capacity already provided by the existing Qatar Airways passenger flights originating at DFW, from 400 metric tonnes of export cargo capacity per month to 1,000 metric tonnes of exports per month. Qatar Airways Cargo will also be able to connect shippers from the DFW catchment area to more than 150 destinations on the carrier’s global network.
DFW Airport is recognised as the premier inland cargo hub in the US, and it handles 60 per cent of all air cargo originating in Texas.
