Mercator, a leading aviation IT solutions provider, has deployed its new safety and compliance management system Emirates, the leading Dubai-based international airline.
“There is nothing in market today that addresses the need for integration between the various internal components that drive safety in an organisation,” said Captain Henry Donohue, senior vice-president Emirates Group Safety.
“Our new product manages the reactive, proactive and predictive aspects of safety; ensuring that every hazard is managed and every risk contained.”
“The level of integration and intelligence that we have been able to feed into the product from our years of experience, plus the valuable know-how of our people, makes this the most purpose-built product for aviation safety,” he added.
Developed in cooperation with a dedicated project team at Emirates, the Mercator system is now being used by the over 50,000 strong team across the Emirates Group to report safety information. The safety management solution allows Emirates to demonstrate compliance to the ICAO SMS guidelines.
Following the pilot period, the product will be made available to the rest of Mercator’s customers and the wider aviation industry in the coming months, a statement said.
“Understandably, as in any IT development project on an ambitious mission to develop a new product that meets global aviation industry requirements, our project had its ups and downs; however, Mercator’s drive and commitment kept the project on track,” said Patrick Naef, divisional senior vice-president of Emirates IT and head of Mercator.
“The development team from Mercator and Emirates worked extremely hard to make this possible and we are pleased with of the achievements of both teams.
“We have already had many of our current and potential customers request the system and look forward to offering our system to the industry in the near future,” he added.
