Mountain Hawk Express Ltd. (MHE); licensee of Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), was recently ranked amongst the best companies to work for in Sri Lanka for the second consecutive year by Great Place to Work Institute, a global human resources consulting, research and training firm.
This award is a testimony for the efforts put in by MHE in recognising the importance of creating a high trust, high performance work place.
“We are truly humbled by this award and we are honoured to be named amongst some of the leading corporates in Sri Lanka for the second consecutive year. What’s tougher than achieving greatness is maintaining that status, and I’m happy that everyone at MHE has done their part to keep the momentum going,” said MHE Chief Executive Officer Sanjeeva Abeygoonewardena.
“This award comes at a time when MHE is celebrating yet another milestone of being named as the licensee of TNT in Sri Lanka and whilst we mark the 30th anniversary of representing FedEx in Sri Lanka. So 2017 truly has been an amazing year for us at MHE,” said MHE Chief Operating Officer Chamila Bandara.
Enriched with the employee friendly culture which revolves around the Purple Promise of FedEx, the company operates with the service mantra ‘people-service-profit’. MHE believes that when they take care of people, they provide the desired service, which in turn generates profit, which then goes back to the people.
Lessons learnt
As an organisation handling international express deliveries, employees work 24 hours, round the clock which makes it all the more crucial to create an environment which is a great place to work, in order to sustain business. The survey results indicate that MHE has achieved a jump from last year which is a significant achievement showing that the team has responded well to the trust based culture initiatives.
Giving equal opportunity to people and creating a pleasant environment for staff has always been a part of the DNA of MHE. This has created a sense of hope and pride about the organisation amongst employees, especially millennials.
A ‘cool place’ to work
Creating an atmosphere where people are engaged through an eco-system of grooming ‘cool leaders’ is another factor that sets MHE apart in their continuous journey. The company strives to provide an environment where employees feel energised coming to work, whilst being well supported by cool leaders who infuse a sense of pride in people and enthuse team work and flexible work ethos.
The success of creating and maintaining an environment that brings out the best in its most important resource, its people, has allowed MHE to be amongst the top 25 great places to work in Sri Lanka, while connecting people with opportunities around the globe.
Mountain Hawk Express is a fully owned subsidiary of Hayleys Advantis Ltd., the transportation and logistics arm of Hayleys PLC.
