MFA Clearing and Forwarding marks 45 years of reliable service

MFA Clearing and Forwarding Ltd. was founded by Alhaj Mohamed Fairoze Amirdeen in 1967 as a sole proprietorship organisation at No. 38, Hospital Street, Colombo 1. Amirdeen was not only a businessman of experience and knowledge but played a key role in bringing about inter-communal amity.

He appointed R.M. Shafeek, Malik Amirdeen, A. Naushad Amirdeen and Sharan Laffir as Directors and gave the responsibility of the post of Managing Director to R.M. Shafeek, who contributed in many ways to the upliftment of the company.

The children in following the footsteps of their father have made great strides in taking M.F.A. Clearing and Forwarding to its present position.

In the past years the company had the privilege of the services of late J.R.S. Leiton, former Director of Customs as a Consultant, whilst Alhaj M.H. Arifeen, J.P. Waidyathilleke and U.D. Aluthge contributed over 30 years of service toward its purpose.

R.M. Shafeek said: “We are a clearing and forwarding company with 45 years of excellence in service. Our company has been awarded a Gold Card by the Department of Customs. Fifty of the clearing agents in Sri Lanka have been presented with this award for exemplary service. As we have always maintained a clean sheet, this prestigious award has been awarded to us.

“We work with well known and reputed clients. This task was achieved with many difficulties. We handle sea and air, clearing and forwarding and transporting of general cargo. We take this opportunity to thank Lanka Ashok Leyland Limited, TVS Lanka Limited, Akbar Brother Group of Companies, Hemas Group of Companies and our other clients for giving us their utmost support during the past years.”

“The strength of our company is the honest and reliable staff we recruit, who bring about our efficiency and success. We assure that goods are cleared within the speculated period, approximately within three days to prevent from paying huge amounts of demurrage. As for our efficient service, our clients have been with us for the past 20 to 30 years, which proves their satisfaction with our service. We hope to expand our services in the future and celebrate our 50 years of service in a grand way,” he concluded.
