Mercury Leader calls at Hambantota

Mv Mercury Leader, a RORO vessel operated by NYK Line, called at the Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port of Hambantota on 14 August 2012 for the discharge of 572 units, amongst which were equipment for the Mattala International Airport and construction material for the Shangri La Hotel project in Colombo.

The discharging of the two large aviation fuel carrier trucks which were loaded in Europe was a key feature of the vessel operation, which was expertly handled by the staff of MRMR Port.

Additional, more than 500 units of various types of vehicles were discharged from the vessel to the satisfaction of the vessels operator and the vessel’s master.

NYK Line, Japan is the world’s largest operator of RORO (Roll-On Roll-Off) vessels, and offers a regular monthly vessel call to the MRMR Port from Japan and Far East ports.
