McLarens Containers plans strategic investment drive

McLarens Containers, one of the pioneers in the inland container depot industry, has been in operation since 1980 at its extensive proprietary facility at Welisara. Today, it remains one of the premier container terminal operators in Sri Lanka with a capacity of over 3,500 TEUS.

With the expansion of the business and new demands emerging from many sectors, McLarens is now gearing to handle bigger capacities with strategic investments in equipment, yard expansion, warehousing, and a domestic container fleet. In addition, its specialised expertise is geared to manage a larger throughput.

In this respect, one of its first recent acquisitions is a brand new LINDE C80/6 empty container handler capable of six-high stacking.  With this initial addition, McLarens Containers will be able to provide shipping lines and container leasing customers with an increased container logistical throughput with much greater efficiency and an increase in the yard capacity due to the six-high stacking capabilities.

LINDE and its Local Agents, Scott International (Pvt) Ltd., have been the equipment and service providers to McLarens Containers for over 25 years and their latest LINDE C80/6 is a faster, more user friendly, and a super efficient machine which has a three-stage safety back-up system to ensure safe handling of containers.

A new feature in this modern machine is the engine and transmission operation including a fault detection LED display in the driver’s cabin, one of the many sophisticated new features now available.
