Expolanka Group has recently completed providing project cargo solutions to the third mini hydros in East Africa.
The successful conclusion of the third project is the culmination of Expolanka’s original foray into this business in 2007, said a spokesman for Pulsar Shipping Ltd., an affiliate of Expolanka Holdings.
Of the three completed projects two were built by Eco Power — 6.4 MW Ishasha Small Hydro Power Plant in Uganda and 9.6 MW Rukarara Small Hydro Power in Rwanda whilst VS Hydro built 18 MW Mpanga Hydro Project in Uganda.
“From 2007, Expolanka Project cargo division provided our client with feasibility report and route surveys. We spoke and interacted with them on a regular basis for more than one year even before moving single shipment. We worked not as a service provider but on partnership basis,” the spokesman said. According to him nearly 350 TEUs were moved via sea and overland from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Germany and Thailand.
“We moved boom truck and crane used RO/RO Carriers. Nearly 100 tonnes of cargo was air lifted. On two occasions we arraigned air freighter to carry oversized cargo that was need urgently,” the spokesman added.
The Company also shipped hardware items, prefabricated housing units, penstock pipe, transformers, generators, turbines, marine paints, transmission line cables and others which could not be sourced in East Africa.
The logistics provided weathered Pirate-infested waters to broken roads in Africa. Expolanka Project Cargo team had worked with its offices in East Africa and in partnership with Delmas Shipping and Emirate Line.
