The Eagle Supply Chain Forum was held last Friday at Mahaweli Kendraya with 140 participants from over 100 different corporate companies in the island. Welcoming the participants, Eagle Logistics CEO Asanga Weerackody mentioned that Eagle Logistics is a company which has been helping the import-export industry in many ways during the last 10 years and not just freight forwarding.
Further he said, “We have seen the companies that are complying with SCM doing well globally and we decided to pass the message to the companies which are not applying SCM. Also he mentioned that that ISMM (Institute of Supply and Material Management) is their partner to support this course, since they are the pioneers in the country for SCM.
The event commenced with ISMM Vice President Gayani De Alwis showing the audience the importance of supply chain management in any business and that it will be the only way forward to get the competitive advantage.
Unilever Sri Lanka Director Supply Chain Noman Lutfi was the second speaker who proved to the participants how Unilever got the benefits by applying SCM to their operations globally.
Finally Nestle Lanka AVP Chathura Dissanayke also mentioned how Nestle became successful implementing SCM in to their business.
This is the fifth supply chain forum organised by Eagle Logistics during the last two years and over 350 corporate companies have participated.
