The 24th Annual General Meeting of the Company of Master Mariners of Sri Lanka is to be held on Saturday, 13 June, at 6 p.m. at the Club Palm Bay Hotel in Marawila. This would be a family outing for members with overnight stay at the hotel. The AGM would be followed by fellowship and dinner for members and their families.
The Company of Master Mariners of Sri Lanka (CMMSL) is a professional organisation of Sri Lankan Ship Captains, who are Certified Class 1 Master Mariners (for Unlimited Tonnage and Ocean Trading Area); formed in 1992 with a current membership in excess of 250. CMMSL is a member of the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka since 2004, leading the ‘Maritime Profession’ with a great emphasis on harnessing the professional inputs of Master Mariners, endeavouring to serve the maritime community in particular and shipping industry in general.
Master Mariners have years of experience at sea commanding such enormous maritime property known as ships to almost all the major ports in the world. They are a unique group of professionals of the Merchant Navy whose ascendance to the command of vessels results from a passage of professional education, numerous training, practical experience at sea and continuous re-training and revalidation in accordance with stringent International standards governed by the International Maritime Organisation; mainly achieved through individual investments of each Master Mariner.
CMMSL is also proud to have in its membership many enterprising Master Mariners of the nation who have pioneered a number of maritime enterprises of this nation including state of the art training facilities and those who currently provide professional management services to the top state and private sector maritime organisations.
