SriLankan Engineering standards reaffirmed at recent EASA audit

SriLankan Airlines, armed with several industry certifications of the highest recognised global standards, has positioned itself as the finest institution in South Asia for aircraft engineering Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) for all airlines in the region.

SriLankan Engineering (https://www.srilankan.com/mro/) recently successfully completed an audit process for the EASA 145 standard, and now possesses EASA Part-145 certification to carry out Base Maintenance operations on Airbus A320, A321 and A330 families of aircraft of all airlines. SriLankan Engineering also possesses EASA certifications for its Line Maintenance and Engineering Workshops, and authorisation for certification of aircraft operating to BIA and Male International Airport.

Apart from its EASA Part-145 recognition, SriLankan Engineering holds third party maintenance approvals from numerous national aviation authorities including Singapore, China, India, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain. SriLankan Engineering also provides full engineering services for the entire SriLankan Airlines fleet, which is comprised of A320, A321 ( CEO and NEO) and A330 aircraft.

SriLankan Engineering’s dedicated A320 Hangar is now considered truly world class following its recent modernisation. It recently successfully carried out C-checks on Airbus A320 NEO (New Engine Option) aircraft recently inducted into the SriLankan Airlines fleet, and now has the expertise to carry out major maintenance checks on Airbus Industrie’s New Engine Option aircraft.

Meanwhile, recent enhancements at its Main Hangar have included enlargement of the floor area to allow more aircraft to be worked on simultaneously; and enclosing of the Main Hangar with the installation of a new hangar door to better protect it from inclement weather. Its engineering workshops have also been modernised. 

SriLankan Engineering also draws upon the support of a very strong engineering training institution. SriLankan Aviation College (SLAC), the training wing of Sri Lanka’s national carrier, recently successfully completed its latest audit for the EASA Part-147 certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), emphasising its position as the premier regional institute for training of aircraft technicians and engineers. It first obtained EASA Part-147 certification in 2008 and has held it continuously since then, with twice-yearly audits from EASA and constant monitoring by SriLankan’s own Engineering and Corporate Quality Department, which is an independent entity within the national carrier that ensures that standards are maintained.
