Shipyard teams and families have fortunately not been directly affected on account of the Easter Sunday attacks, said Colombo Dockyard Head of Marketing – Ship Repairs Darshana Chandrasekera, commenting on the shipyard status as at 2 May.

“The shipyard teams have turned up for work through past week, with heavy hearts, mourning for the loss of innocent life and continue to carry on their duties, serving the ship owners and managers at one of the strategic ship repair and shipbuilding hubs.

“As a grieving nation, determined to rise back on its feet, we appeal for confidence from the international maritime community and our friendly nations to patronise this beautiful island nation and give us much needed support and strength to move forward in our odyssey of excellence,” he added, in a statement.
